It is our pleasure to offer the 2017-2018 Florida Poly Scholarship to all of our incoming Undergraduate students who will be attending full time. In collaboration with the University Foundation and the Office of Enrollment Services, Undergraduate students will receive a $3,500 award for up to 4 years to assist with the direct institutional costs. Graduate students will receive a $3,500 award for up to 2 years to assist with the direct institutional costs. This scholarship will be regulated by the following outlined requirements and expectations.
- Must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.75 for Undergraduates, 3.0 for Graduates.
- Must be scheduled as a full-time student each Fall and Spring semesters.
– Full Time is defined as taking 12 credits or more for Undergraduates, 9 credits or more for Graduates within a semester
- Must have a Cumulative Completion Ratio of 67% each Financial Aid Year.
– A Financial Aid Year is defined as starting in Fall and ending in Summer.
Award Length and Amounts
The award timeframe begins the student’s first semester at Florida Polytechnic University. After the award timeframe has ended students will no longer be eligible to receive this same scholarship.
- 2017-2018: $3,500
- 2018-2019: $3,500
- 2019-2020: $3,500
- 2020-2021: $3,500
For the purposes of this scholarship, awards will be disbursed equitably between the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Fall Semester: $1,750
- Spring Semester: $1,750
- Financial Aid Year: $3,500
The Office of Financial Aid will not disburse this scholarship during the Summer semesters. Students attending the Summer semesters are expected to use other forms of aid to cover their tuition and fees.
Student grade point averages will be checked by the Office of Financial Aid at the end of every Summer semester. Students that do not meet the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average will not be eligible to receive the scholarship in future semesters.
Student schedules will be checked every semester to ensure that they are a full-time student. Students that do not meet the minimum full-time status each semester will not be eligible to receive the scholarship in future semesters.
Student Cumulative Completion Ratios will be checked at the end of every Summer semester. Students that do not meet the minimum Completion Ratio of 67% will be ineligible to receive the scholarship in future semesters.
Students with unpaid balances from a prior semester will not have their scholarship packaged until all financial obligations have been paid to the university.
Students that drop from an entire semester, and return in a future semester, will be ineligible to receive the scholarship.
All students must have a signed memorandum of understanding on their account in order to receive their future scholarship disbursements.
If a student graduates from their program early they may not use the remaining amount to carry onto another Undergraduate or Graduate Program at Florida Polytechnic University.
Students with an approved Mitigating Circumstances petition may be reconsidered for reinstatement if it is found that they were unable to meet eligible requirements due to events outside of their control.
Students may receive the scholarship as a less than full time student if they have been approved for a reduced course load by the Office of Disability Services. The Office of Financial Aid will reduce the award amount based on the credits being taken.
Internships may be considered as part of a student’s course load, as long as it has been approved by Academics and the student receives credit for the internship that is reflected on their official transcript.
Students may use the Summer semester (A, B, and C) to assist in raising their credit completion rate and cumulative grade point average.
There is no probationary period associated with this scholarship. If a student does not meet the aforementioned eligibility requirements, or does not have an approved exception or appeal, they will be ineligible to receive the scholarship in future semesters.
