Student health is a critical priority, particularly as the novel coronavirus continues making its way through our communities. Florida Polytechnic University has created an all-new respiratory clinic for the University community and extended the hours of its existing student Health Clinic.
The new respiratory clinic, which is staffed by professionals from Lakeland Regional Health, is located in a separate building beside the Student Development Center. It will be available to students and employees experiencing COVID-19 symptoms that have been identified by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of taste or smell.
Respiratory clinic appointment requests should be made by calling 863-603-6505 to schedule a telehealth visit. If the provider feels it is appropriate to have them swabbed for COVID-19, they will be scheduled for an appointment at the respiratory clinic. Those who have an appointment will be given appointment directions and guidance on how to access the clinic.
Meanwhile, the regular Health Clinic will have extended hours to attend to any other medical issues that may arise. Students can now stop by the clinic, located inside the Wellness Center, any time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The health clinic is supported by Lakeland Regional Health and staffed by an advanced registered nurse practitioner to provide general medical services, such as help with acute conditions, minor illnesses, and injuries. It also provides referrals to local health care providers and specialists.
Employees and students can find more information about additional University health resources online, including the daily health self-assessment tool, temperature kiosks, and self-reporting requirements.
