Becoming an international student in the United States has many steps and can be complicated to navigate on your own. Our international admissions team is here to guide you through the process, step-by-step.

UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Admission to Florida Poly is highly competitive, and students are encouraged to apply early.

GPA Requirements

The average weighted high school GPA of freshmen admitted in fall 2018 was 3.78. To determine your eligibility for admission to Florida Poly, we will recalculate your GPA based on your high school grades and any additional credit earned through Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced International Certificates of Education (AICE), or honors courses.

How to Apply – International First Time in College Students

  1. Complete an international admission application.

    An admissions essay is now required. We are eager to learn as much as possible about the extracurricular activities of our applicants, in particular, how those experiences have contributed to their intellectual and personal growth.

    Applicants are also strongly encouraged to submit at least one, but no more than three, letter(s) of recommendation, preferably from a math or science teacher. Letters of recommendation should be sent to recommendations@floridapoly.edu

  2. Submit your official scores for the SAT (school code: 7303) and/or the ACT (school code: 2869).
  3. Submit your scores for at least one English proficiency exam (TOEFL, IELTS, or MELAB). Students with an Associate of Arts degree or higher from a U.S. institution, or an institution whose primary instruction language is English, may waive language proficiency testing requirements.
  4. Send us your official high school transcripts. Currently, Florida Poly accepts transcripts evaluated through the following services:
    • World Education Services (WES)
    • Academic Evaluation Services (AES)
    • Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, Inc. (ACEI)
    • Josef Silny & Associates, Inc.
  5. Complete an I-20 application form.
  6. Provide a copy of your passport.
  7. Demonstrate proof of available funds to cover the cost of your first year of study, including miscellaneous expenses. For more information, review our estimated tuition and fees.

International students that satisfy all university admission requirements will receive an I-20 form from the Florida Poly Office of Admissions. Upon admission, you will need to take this form, along with a copy of your acceptance letter and proof of available funds, to your nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

GRADUATE ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Admission to the master’s program at Florida Poly requires the completion of a four-year degree in a related area at a recognized institution. When the original credential and/or grading scale is written in a language other than English, the description provided here includes the minimum amount of translation and modifications.

Please note that all education systems, credentials, and grading scales are subject to change. Standards vary from institution to institution, and even year to year. Determination of credentials and grades is always, to a certain extent, interpretive and subjective.

HOW TO APPLY – GRADUATE STUDENTS

  1. Complete an international admission application.
  2. Send us your official undergraduate transcripts from all of the institutions you’ve attended. Currently, Florida Poly accepts transcripts evaluated through the following services:
    • World Education Services (WES)
    • Academic Evaluation Services (AES)
    • Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, Inc. (ACEI)
    • Josef Silny & Associates, Inc.
  3. If your cumulative undergraduate GPA is below a 3.25, please also submit official GRE scores (school code: 0071). If your cumulative college GPA is a 3.25 or higher, the Graduate Admission Committee may waive the GRE requirement.
  4. Submit your scores for at least one English proficiency exam (TOEFL, IELTS, or MELAB). Students with an Associate of Arts degree or higher from a U.S. institution, or an institution whose primary instruction language is English, may waive testing requirements.
  5. Submit two letters of recommendation.
  6. Submit a letter of intent. This should be a brief summary of your research interests and goals for the program.
  7. Complete an I-20 application form.
  8. Provide a copy of your passport.
  9. Provide proof of available funds to cover the cost of your first year of study, including miscellaneous expenses. For more information, review our estimated tuition and fees.

International students that satisfy all university admission requirements will receive an I-20 form from the Florida Poly Office of Admissions. Upon admission, you will need to take this form, along with a copy of your acceptance letter and proof of available funds, to your nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

ADMISSION DATES AND DEADLINES

The graduate program enrolls students for the fall term only. The deadline for the admissions application and all supporting documents is March 15. No decision will be given until after the March 15 deadline.
