Florida Poly Writing Services certified as tutor training program

February 24, 2022

Florida Polytechnic University announced this week that its Department of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences’ Writing Services program has been awarded certification as a Level 1 tutor training program by the internationally recognized College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).

Florida Poly Writing Services successfully completed the International Tutor Training Program Certification peer review process. Achieving this certification means the program has met CRLA’s high standards for tutor selection, training, direct service, and evaluation as an integral part of its overall tutoring program.

Leading the program and the campus certification effort at Florida Poly is Dr. Elizabeth Kelly, an instructor and course coordinator for technical writing.

“Dr. Kelly and our Department of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences have worked hard to develop a tutor training program that meets CRLA’s rigorous standards,” said Tom Dvorske, vice provost of academic affairs, assessment, and instruction at Florida Poly. “We’re proud this outstanding program is now recognized by a global leader in higher education tutoring.”

For more than 30 years, CRLA has been a leader in learning assistance, reading, and academic support programs with almost 1,300 members and over 2,000 certified training programs worldwide.
