Professor Manimegalai Ramamourty joined Florida Polytechnic University in Fall 2014 as an Adjunct Instructor teaching Computer Science and Networking for Cyber Security and Cyber Gaming concentrations.
She completed her master’s degree in Computer Science and Applications. She worked as a lecturer for three years in the Computer Science Department at Bharathidasan University in India. She earned a second master’s degree, which was in Tamil Literature (her mother tongue, as well as one of the classical languages of the world). Professor Ramamourty received her bachelor’s degree in Physics, graduating with distinction.
Professor Ramamourty is passionate about healthcare and healthcare systems, and she successfully completed her Medical Transcription Editor (MTE) via Allied Health Institutions Career Step Inc., a well-regarded on-line educator. She then worked as a Certified Medical Transcriptionist. The industry experience enables her to share her background and provide expertise to the Health Informatics concentration at Florida Polytechnic University.
Professor Ramamourty has penned many literary articles for various Tamil magazines, and she serves as an editor at the Tamil magazine, Vallamai (at http://www.vallamai.com).
Her pastimes are reading books, listening to music, practicing yoga, cooking, gardening and enjoying recreational activities with her children.

Michelle Powell serves as the pioneering Risk Manager at Florida Polytechnic University, the state’s sole 100% STEM-dedicated institution. Having been with the university for nearly 11 years, Michelle transitioned from a leadership role in Admissions in October 2023 to establish and evolve the risk management function from the ground up. In this solo capacity, Michelle builds robust frameworks for our dynamic, young university, overseeing our insurance portfolio, consulting on third-party and event risks, and developing critical campus-wide training programs. Michelle has obtained the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management certificate and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. Her distinct background in mathematics and engineering, combined with extensive higher education leadership, brings an analytical and strategic approach enhancing the institution’s resilience.
