Admissions Team Set to Begin Student Recruitment Process!

Students eager to apply to Florida Poly won’t have to wait much longer, as two seasoned professionals have been hired to head up the recruitment and admissions process.

Scott Rhodes has been named the new Executive Director of Admissions and Beth A. Pierpont is the Associate Director.

Rhodes has more than 14 years of experience in higher education, leading marketing and enrollment efforts for campus based, regional centers and online students. Prior to his new position, he was the senior strategist at Elliance, a digital marketing company based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Before that, he was the Associate Vice President at St. Leo University. In that position, he was responsible for managing student recruitment and marketing efforts. He has also held recruitment positions at Concordia University in Irvine, CA, Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.and Shenandoah University, in Winchester, VA. He earned his B.A. at Indiana University and a Masters in Technology and Arts from Duquesne University.

His wealth of experience is invaluable as Florida Poly will begin recruiting students this summer.

Pierpont, an attorney, will join the university on June 24. Currently, she is the Director of Admission at Barry University School of Law in Orlando.

Session Details

This session will demonstrate that practical risk management is for everyone, regardless of a formal program. Attendees will learn actionable and simple strategies that are easy to implement, enabling them to start immediately by focusing on their top risks to build greater operational resilience and ensure the sustained success of their auxiliary enterprises.

Presenter Profile

Michelle Powell serves as the pioneering Risk Manager at Florida Polytechnic University, the state’s sole 100% STEM-dedicated institution. Having been with the university for nearly 11 years, Michelle transitioned from a leadership role in Admissions in October 2023 to establish and evolve the risk management function from the ground up. In this solo capacity, Michelle builds robust frameworks for our dynamic, young university, overseeing our insurance portfolio, consulting on third-party and event risks, and developing critical campus-wide training programs. Michelle has obtained the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management certificate and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. Her distinct background in mathematics and engineering, combined with extensive higher education leadership, brings an analytical and strategic approach enhancing the institution’s resilience.
