Collective Bargaining

Collective bargaining at Florida Poly exists to ensure that faculty and administration work together to establish fair, transparent, and clearly defined terms of employment.

Through this collaborative process between the Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees and the United Faculty of Florida (UFF) Florida Poly Chapter, both parties are able to protect faculty rights, support institutional goals, and create a framework that fosters academic excellence and student success.

2024–2027 Collective Bargaining Agreement

In September 2024, the Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees and the United Faculty of Florida (UFF) Florida Poly chapter ratified the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), which will remain in effect until August 31, 2027.

The CBA governs the terms and conditions of faculty employment by formalizing rights, responsibilities, and management procedures. Key articles define processes for:

  • Faculty appointments and promotions
  • Assignments of responsibility
  • Performance evaluations

While the agreement is in effect, both parties meet each spring to review potential updates and negotiate amendments. Updates on negotiations, proposals, and meeting outcomes are posted on this page.

Articles

The Collective Bargaining Agreement is organized into articles that guide faculty employment, responsibilities, and rights. Examples include:

  • Article 6 – Appointment and Promotion: Defines procedures for faculty appointments, reappointments, and advancement.
  • Article 7 – Assignment of Responsibilities: Establishes processes for teaching, research, and service assignments.
  • Article 8 – Performance Evaluation: Outlines criteria and procedures for faculty performance reviews.
  • Article 12 – Salaries: Governs compensation practices and adjustments.
  • Article 14 – Professional Development and Sabbatical Leave: Provides opportunities for faculty growth and advancement.

The full list of articles is available in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Proposals

Throughout the term of the CBA, both parties may bring forward proposals for amendments or clarifications. Proposals are tracked by article number and posted here for transparency.

TA = Tentative Agreement
A Tentative Agreement (TA) means that both the Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees’ bargaining team and the United Faculty of Florida (UFF) bargaining team have reached agreement on the language of a particular article or proposal.

  • Tentative – The agreement is considered “tentative” because it is not yet final until the entire Collective Bargaining Agreement has been reviewed and ratified by both parties.
  • Binding Once Ratified – When the full agreement is ratified, all articles marked as TA become legally binding provisions in the CBA.
  • Tracking Progress – Listing articles as TA helps the campus community track where consensus has been reached and where negotiations are still ongoing.

Note: Proposals from prior years (2021–2023) are also available in the historical archive of minutes and documents.

Meetings

Negotiation meetings are open to observation, and summaries or minutes are posted after each session.
