The Applied Mathematics Bachelor of Science degree at Florida Polytechnic University provides a rigorous and broad education in mathematics with opportunities to explore how mathematics is used in related disciplines such as engineering, physics, data science, and computer science.
The program requires a customizable four-course sequence in related areas where mathematics plays a significant role. Students in the program acquire an in-depth understanding of the mathematical concepts, principles, and theory that underpin all STEM fields. Applied mathematics students use a broad range of techniques, including modeling, computation, and data analysis, in solving complex problems and providing innovative solutions. Students with strong mathematical training are in high demand in the workforce.

Graduates of the B.S. in Applied Mathematics understand how applied mathematics leads to mathematical models, theories, and applications that contribute to diverse areas of science. You will be well prepared for technical R&D jobs, developing new knowledge in the sphere of engineering problems, or pursuing graduate study in math or engineering.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Data, the employment of mathematicians and statisticians is projected to grow 11 percent from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations.
About 2,500 openings for mathematicians and statisticians are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.
The median annual wage for mathematicians was $121,680 in May 2024. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $63,430, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $187,660.

Through this interdisciplinary approach, students not only apply theoretical concepts but also gain practical experience, preparing them for successful careers in their respective fields.
