Dr. Kais Jribi is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Florida Polytechnic University, where he began his tenure in August 2024. With a focus on aerospace engineering, Jribi’s research primarily involves the application and advancement of composite materials, particularly carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs), in high-stakes industries like aviation and automotive.
Jribi has pioneered innovative techniques for early damage detection in composite structures, using digital image correlation (DIC) to enhance safety protocols and maintenance efficiency. His work in this area offers a new method for accurately monitoring and mapping residual surface strains in composites, representing a significant breakthrough in materials science.
While at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, he contributed to advanced imaging techniques, such as 3D X-ray microtomography and SEM, by improving the analysis and data reliability on internal damage in composite materials.
In addition to his research, Jribi is a dedicated educator, committed to equipping students with the critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for success in aerospace engineering. He has taught courses in advanced aerospace structures and finite element modeling, providing hands-on guidance and mentorship to both undergraduate and graduate students.
