Andy Oguntola

Assistant Vice President, Enrollment Management

Dr. Andy Oguntola is the assistant vice president of enrollment at Florida Polytechnic University, a position he has held since 2024. With over 16 years of experience in higher education, Oguntola has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to enhancing the student experience, from recruitment and enrollment to retention and graduation. His leadership spans various institutions, including Polk State College, where he previously served as associate vice president of student services. In this role, he led campus-based advising services, managed the college’s strategic enrollment management plan, and oversaw recruitment and outreach efforts. His expertise in strategic planning, conflict resolution, and project management has consistently delivered significant improvements to student services and academic outcomes.

Before his tenure at Florida Poly, Oguntola held pivotal roles at Polk State College, including dean of workforce education and economic development. He also was director of admissions and registration at Valencia College. His work involved overseeing diverse academic programs, coordinating dual enrollment opportunities, and ensuring compliance with accreditation processes. Throughout his career, he has also maintained a strong focus on faculty development, budget management, and data-driven decision-making. Oguntola’s background in business administration, combined with his educational leadership expertise, allows him to craft innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of students and higher education institutions.

Presenter Profile

Michelle Powell serves as the pioneering Risk Manager at Florida Polytechnic University, the state’s sole 100% STEM-dedicated institution. Having been with the university for nearly 11 years, Michelle transitioned from a leadership role in Admissions in October 2023 to establish and evolve the risk management function from the ground up. In this solo capacity, Michelle builds robust frameworks for our dynamic, young university, overseeing our insurance portfolio, consulting on third-party and event risks, and developing critical campus-wide training programs. Michelle has obtained the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management certificate and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. Her distinct background in mathematics and engineering, combined with extensive higher education leadership, brings an analytical and strategic approach enhancing the institution’s resilience.
