Florida Polytechnic University’s economic and community impact continues growing stronger each year, with industry partners supporting its all-STEM mission by connecting directly with students and sponsoring internships, senior capstone projects and more.
CivilSurv Design Group, Inc., a multidisciplinary firm based in Lakeland, Florida, has taken its support of the University a step further by funding an endowed scholarship for students majoring in civil engineering and environmental engineering.
The company provides comprehensive engineering, surveying, mapping and planning services.
“By establishing this endowed scholarship, we are investing directly in students who demonstrate technical excellence, leadership potential, and a passion for serving their communities,” the company said in a statement. “Supporting Florida Poly aligns with our belief that strong local universities and strong local industry partnerships are essential to building a resilient and innovative future for Central Florida.”
University leaders emphasized the broader impact of the partnership, pointing to the expanded opportunities it creates for students and its contribution to strengthening Florida’s workforce.
“CivilSurv’s investment reflects the confidence our industry partners have in the caliber of Florida Poly students,” said Stephen Weingart, chief development officer at Florida Poly. “Endowed scholarships like this ensure our students are supported as they build the skills and knowledge needed to drive high-tech progress.”
CivilSurv has already built a strong pipeline with Florida Poly, hiring several interns and welcoming two of them into full-time roles.
“Florida Poly’s civil and environmental engineering programs prepare students with strong technical foundations, problem-solving skills, and a readiness to contribute to real-world project environments,” the company said. “These students arrive eager to learn and quickly demonstrate the ability to add meaningful value to infrastructure projects that serve our communities.”
To be eligible for the CivilSurv Endowed Engineering Scholarship, applicants must be sophomores or juniors majoring in civil engineering or environmental engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.2. Recipients must be permanent Florida residents, with preference given first to students from Polk County and then to those from neighboring counties, including Sumter, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Okeechobee, Highlands, Hardee, Manatee, Hillsborough and Pasco.
