Employee Assistance Program update from Human Resources

April 7, 2020

The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our top priority. Visit our webpage for resources and additional information.

Florida Poly community,

The Office of Human Resources would like to remind everyone that the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is an available resource for all employees (faculty, staff, OPS, student employees) and their families. When you need professional, confidential advice to manage life’s troubles, the State’s  Employee Assistance Program (EAP)  can help. The EAP, provided by E4 Health (New Directions), offers employees and their household 24-hour access to confidential help from trained counselors. The counselors talk with you about your concerns, provide guidance, and will direct you to the right resources. Call 1-833-746-8337 or visit the State Department of Management EAP website.

Through the EAP, there is free and confidential access to a wide range of services to help employees and their family/household members, including:

Clinical counseling for any work, family, relationship or life issue
Provider location and referrals for child care, elder care, and pet care
Legal consultation by phone from licensed attorneys
Financial consultation by phone from qualified specialists
The #BlueChat teen helpline, 1-844-208-7074, to provide trusted support for unique teen challenges
Web-based tools, articles, tips, and resources
Wellness support, assessments, and resources
During these stressful times, the EAP is available to assist and guide you in a confidential setting. If you need counseling or other consultations, Florida Poly encourages you to take advantage of this essential program.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Presenter Profile

Michelle Powell serves as the pioneering Risk Manager at Florida Polytechnic University, the state’s sole 100% STEM-dedicated institution. Having been with the university for nearly 11 years, Michelle transitioned from a leadership role in Admissions in October 2023 to establish and evolve the risk management function from the ground up. In this solo capacity, Michelle builds robust frameworks for our dynamic, young university, overseeing our insurance portfolio, consulting on third-party and event risks, and developing critical campus-wide training programs. Michelle has obtained the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management certificate and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. Her distinct background in mathematics and engineering, combined with extensive higher education leadership, brings an analytical and strategic approach enhancing the institution’s resilience.
