Florida Polytechnic University Begins Nationwide Search for Founding President

LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Polytechnic University’s Board of Trustees has launched a search for the founding president of Florida’s newest public university. The search committee, comprised of the University’s full Board, chair of the University Foundation Board Cindy Alexander and Board of Governors representative Norm Tripp, held its initial meeting Monday, February 3, 2014.

The University president will report directly to the Board of Trustees and will serve as the chief executive officer, responsible for the execution of the strategic plan and the effective development and operation of Florida Poly’s innovative programs and offerings.

The search committee has retained R. William Funk and Associates, a Dallas-based higher education search consulting firm, to help facilitate the search for presidential candidates who embrace and personify Florida Poly’s unique academic vision.

Florida Poly will place educational emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs, as well as offer students real-world problem-solving, work experience, applied research and business leadership opportunities through industry partnerships. Florida Poly’s inaugural class begins August 25, 2014. Upon opening, the University will offer six undergraduate degree programs with 19 unique areas of concentration and two masters degree programs in the College of Engineering and the College of Technology and Innovation.

In this solo capacity, Michelle builds robust frameworks for our dynamic, young university, overseeing our insurance portfolio, consulting on third-party and event risks, and developing critical campus-wide training programs.
