LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Polytechnic University President Dr. Randy K. Avent will participate in a panel discussion on New Delivery Models for Higher Education at the 30th annual Emerging Issues Forum, Innovation Reconstructed, on February 10, 2015 at the Raleigh Convention Center.
The Forum is North Carolina’s signature public policy gathering hosted by the Institute of Emerging Issues (IEI), a think-and-do tank at North Carolina State University (NCSU) focused on tackling big issues that affect North Carolina’s future growth and prosperity.
“I’m honored and grateful to be included in this year’s Emerging Issues Forum,” said Dr. Avent. “I look forward to connecting with great leaders and sharing my thoughts on how higher education must adapt to support the innovation ecosystem. I’m excited to provide stellar examples of how Florida Polytechnic University is applying principals of adaptability, collaboration and achievement to innovate in our rapidly changing economy.”
The 30th Annual Emerging Issues Forum, Innovation Reconstructed, will take place February 9 -10, and will highlight the importance of pioneering and strategic competitive tactics in an age of heightened technology and accelerated everything. More than 1,200 government, education, business, media and technology leaders from across the nation and world are expected to attend.
Forum sessions will address topics such as how technology innovation is changing how we live and do business, the implementation of policy options to support innovation, and response strategies to the extensive impacts of rapid technology innovation.
Participating in the Emerging Issues Forum will mark something of a homecoming for Dr. Avent. Prior to joining Florida Poly, Dr. Avent served as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Research and a Professor of Computer Science at NCSU, where he was responsible for growing NCSU’s overall research program and was the Principal Investigator on the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences. Dr. Avent is also an alumnus of the Electric Engineering master’s program at the University.
