Governor Scott Re-appoints Six Trustees

Six members of the Florida Poly Board of Trustees were among 42 people re-appointed to boards and commissions throughout the state by Governor Rick Scott. The trustees include:

Mark R. Bostick, of Lake Wales, is the president of Comcar Industries. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 16, 2013, and ending June 30, 2015.

Joseph L. Caruncho, of Miami, is the CEO of Preferred Care Partners. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 16, 2013, and ending June 30, 2014.

Robert H. Gidel, of Windemere, is a managing partner of Liberty Capital. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 16, 2013, and ending June 30, 2017.

Scott J. Hammack, of Naples, is the chief executive officer of Prolexic Inc. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 16, 2013, and ending June 30, 2015.

Kevin M. Hyman, of Winter Haven, is the executive vice president of operations for Bright House Networks. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 16, 2013, and ending June 30, 2015.

Robert W. Stork, of Vero Beach, is the CEO of Communications International Inc. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 16, 2013, and ending June 30, 2014.

Presenter Profile

Michelle Powell serves as the pioneering Risk Manager at Florida Polytechnic University, the state’s sole 100% STEM-dedicated institution. Having been with the university for nearly 11 years, Michelle transitioned from a leadership role in Admissions in October 2023 to establish and evolve the risk management function from the ground up. In this solo capacity, Michelle builds robust frameworks for our dynamic, young university, overseeing our insurance portfolio, consulting on third-party and event risks, and developing critical campus-wide training programs. Michelle has obtained the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management certificate and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. Her distinct background in mathematics and engineering, combined with extensive higher education leadership, brings an analytical and strategic approach enhancing the institution’s resilience.
