The Innovation, Science & Technology Building at Florida Polytechnic University has been honored with the 2015 International Architectural Award, the world’s most prestigious building award for innovative designs. Florida Poly’s iconic oval structure was designed by Spanish architect Dr. Santiago Calatrava and is distinguished by a white steel pergola that rings the building and a moveable roof with louvers that open to provide natural sunlight to an indoor commons area.
The International Architectural Awards are considered to be the highest and most distinguished building awards honoring new and cutting-edge designs. The 2015 recipients were formally announced Monday by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, in collaboration with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

In November 2015, the Chicago Athenaeum, together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, will present a special exhibition of all awarded buildings at its annual symposium, “The City and the World,” in Chicago.
The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design received a record number of projects for new buildings, landscape architecture and urban planning. The 2015 Jury for Awards was held in Munich, Germany, with over 60 projects from 22 nations selected by a distinguished group of architects, journalists and educators.
