Accusoft, a Florida Poly industry partner, knows how to reach and build relationships with talented STEM students keen on a career in high technology.
Accusoft, which designs and builds products and tools for developers, has organized an all-day virtual DeathMatch, which will take place on campus March 27. The event will challenge the programming skills of students using its products.
This contest will give students valuable experience, and it also will be a lot of fun,” said Matthew Sullivan, manager for Quality Assurance at Accusoft. “When we came up with the idea of the challenge, Florida Poly was the obvious choice.”
Accusoft’s primary business products are for developers, with a focus on cloud, mobile and web developer products. Its core area is in imaging, image processing and recognition technologies. Among the company’s clients is Yahoo. Accusoft provides the imaging technology that Yahoo Mail uses for document previews.
At Florida Poly, the specific Accusoft challenge and products are being kept secret until the event, “so that no student has an advantage going into the competition,” Sullivan said.
Students have been preparing for the challenge by organizing into teams. The winning team will collect some awesome prizes, including an Oculus Rift VR Headset.
Sullivan says the company will appreciate the feedback from students trying out their products at the “DeathMatch.” The company also will have the chance to meet potential interns and future employees, and consider future collaboration opportunities with the University.
