The U.S. State Department has named Florida Polytechnic University a Top Producing Institution of Fulbright Scholars for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Florida Poly recognized as top producer of U.S. Fulbright STEM scholars

February 25, 2025

Florida Polytechnic University has earned the prestigious designation as a Fulbright Top Producing Institution, an honor awarded by the U.S. Department of State for its commitment to global academic excellence. Only 130 of the nation’s four-year institutions – just 5% – earned a spot in the ranking.

The recognition celebrates colleges and universities nationwide with the highest number of candidates selected for the Fulbright U.S. student and scholar programs for the 2024-2025 academic year. The announcement was made on Feb. 25.

“Our strong focus on international collaborations, such as those through the Fulbright Program and the lasting benefits they provide, is a key part of Florida Poly’s efforts to contribute to a successful technological and economic future in Florida and beyond,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, the University’s president. “We are honored to receive this recognition and proud of the innovative work our faculty and students are producing through the program.”

Florida Poly’s Fulbright Program, launched in 2018, has steadily gained momentum, fostering global collaboration and academic excellence. One of its earliest achievements was the creation of research chair positions for Fulbright Visiting Scholars, enabling high-impact faculty from around the world to engage in groundbreaking research alongside Florida Poly students and faculty. Since its inception, the program has supported dozens of scholars and students, enriching the University’s research environment and expanding its global reach.

“This achievement is a testament to your institution’s deep commitment to international exchange and to building lasting connections between the people of the United States and the people of other countries,” Scott Weinhold, principal deputy assistant secretary at the State Department, said in a letter to Stephenson. “Florida Polytechnic University’s designation as a Fulbright Top Producing Institution clearly demonstrates your dedication to promoting global engagement and mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.”

The Florida University is dedicated to continuing to expand its Fulbright Program and actively seeks opportunities to enrich international academic and research collaborations for both students and faculty.

“Florida Poly and the Fulbright Program share a tradition of excellence that drives innovation and scientific progress,” said Mustapha Achoubane, the University’s senior advisor for international relations. “Our mission is to cultivate world-class talent to power economic and technological advancement.”

The Fulbright Program is the government’s flagship international exchange program, offering university faculty and students an opportunity to engage in advanced research and study in more than 160 countries worldwide.
