From on-campus health care and mental health services to wellness resources and peer support, we’re here to help you feel your best and succeed in your academic journey.

On-Campus Medical Care

The Florida Poly Health Clinic, operated by Lakeland Regional Health, offers convenient medical care right on campus. Services include treatment for acute conditions, minor illness, and injuries The clinic can also provide referrals to local health care providers and specialists as needed. Clinic visits are free for students, though some services may have associated costs.

Walk-ins are welcome Monday – Friday, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Counseling Services

Free and confidential counseling services, operated by BayCare are available to all students. BayCare’s licensed counselors can help with stress, anxiety, time management, social problems, and other issues that may interfere with an individual’s success.

CARE Services

CARE (Crisis-Assessment-Referral-Evaluation) Services at Florida Poly helps students overcome barriers to success, whether they’re personal, financial, or related to mental health.

The CARE team works together to evaluate the student’s safety and welfare from a holistic viewpoint. The team will recommend interventions.

CARE Services is a non-clinical on campus support that connects students to campus and community resources, assists with navigating university services, and helps create action plans for their personal success.

Anyone can submit a CARE referral to help ensure students get the assistance they need.

Student Basic Needs Pantry

Everyone’s situation is unique. CARE Services can provide students with options to support short-term emergency relief and long-term resources to help meet their basic needs. By educating and connecting students to campus and community resources, we give them the tools to make their own choices.

Session Details

This session will demonstrate that practical risk management is for everyone, regardless of a formal program. Attendees will learn actionable and simple strategies that are easy to implement, enabling them to start immediately by focusing on their top risks to build greater operational resilience and ensure the sustained success of their auxiliary enterprises.

Presenter Profile

Michelle Powell serves as the pioneering Risk Manager at Florida Polytechnic University, the state’s sole 100% STEM-dedicated institution. Having been with the university for nearly 11 years, Michelle transitioned from a leadership role in Admissions in October 2023 to establish and evolve the risk management function from the ground up. In this solo capacity, Michelle builds robust frameworks for our dynamic, young university, overseeing our insurance portfolio, consulting on third-party and event risks, and developing critical campus-wide training programs. Michelle has obtained the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management certificate and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. Her distinct background in mathematics and engineering, combined with extensive higher education leadership, brings an analytical and strategic approach enhancing the institution’s resilience.
