Residence Halls FAQs

Housing fills fast—apply early to get your top choice!

All students will be assigned to a Resident Assistant (RA) or Community Director (CD) while they are living on campus. RAs and CDs are full-time students who live in the residence halls and are responsible for a particular community of students. They provide support, act as a resource for students, coordinate social and educational programs, and enforce University, Housing and Residential Life standards and policies within the campus and residential community.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, Community Directors (CDs) are also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the halls to which they are assigned, including providing support services directly to students, mentoring Resident Assistants (RAs), and overseeing all educational, social, and operational activities and programmatic efforts.

Rent covers water, electricity, cable, internet, and trash.

A twin XL Mattress, Desk, clothing storage and a closet or wardrobe.

All suites will have one washer and one dryer.

For Phase I and Phase II — one refrigerator, microwave one television will be provided in 4 bedroom units.

For Phase III — a television, one mini fridge and a microwave.

Students are welcome to remain on campus during the Thanksgiving break. Students will be surveyed by Housing and Residential Life before the break begins so we are aware of who is looking to remain on campus during the break. Housing and Residential Life will continue to provide support during the Thanksgiving break period. Please be aware Dining Services may be closed or have limited hours of operation during this period, and other University services may be limited or not available during the Thanksgiving break. Students will still be required to pay their rent during this time.

The residence halls will be closed during the winter break and students will be required to vacate the residence halls by 12 p.m. the Saturday following final exams. The University, along with the Office of Housing and  Residential Life, will be closed during the winter break, as well. Students do not need to remove their belongings from their units or bedrooms when they vacate the residence halls for the winter break as they will be returning to the exact same unit and bedroom for the Spring semester. Please ensure that you make the necessary arrangements to find alternative housing over the winter break.

Students will be surveyed by Housing and Residential Life before the break begins so we are aware of who is looking to remain on campus during the break. Housing and Residential Life will continue to provide support during the spring break period. Please be aware Dining Services may be closed or have limited hours of operation during this period, and other University services may be limited or not available during the spring break. Students will still be required to pay their rent during this time.

For all students living on campus there will be a Resident Assistant (RA) and Community Director (CD) in each residential community serving on-call every night from 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM Monday-Friday and 24-hours each day during weekends (Saturday and Sunday). Resident Assistants (RAs) and Community Directors (CDs) are required to complete two community rounds of the residential community each night. These rounds are intended to ensure security of the residence halls in addition to building a social presence within the community for students living on campus. Additionally, there will be a Housing and Residential Life professional staff member on-call 24/7/365. Professional staff are trained to handle a wide variety of emergency and crisis situations. 

If you need assistance after hours or on the weekend, please contact the Resident Assistant (RA) on-call. RAs serve on-call during after-hours (5 p.m. to 8 a.m.) and 24-hours on the weekends. The Resident Assistant (RA) on-call numbers will be posted throughout the residence halls and at the Housing and Residential Life front desk. Only students who live in the residence halls should be contacting the Resident Assistants (RAs) on-call. Non-residential students and parents/family members should contact the Office of Housing and Residential Life at 863-874-8789 directly if they have any questions or concerns. In case of an emergency, please contact the University Police Department at (863) 874-8472 (select option #2).

Housing Resources

The Department of Housing and Residential Life cooperates with the Office of Disability Services (ODS) to provide desired assistance and/or accommodations. Students who are covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act should contact ODS, which coordinates services across many different departments. Students requesting accommodation due to a medical condition, disability, or other situation that may affect on-campus living should review University Policy 3.0042P and complete the ODS Application.

On-campus residents can have mail and packages delivered to Phase Two. Upon package arrival, the resident will be notified by Housing and Residential Life staff. Mail received without a full name and room number may be declined or returned to sender.

Parking is available for students living in the residence halls. Students must purchase a residential general permit, which is sold by semester or annually, from the Office of Parking and Transportation.
