Welcome to the Phoenix family! We’re excited that you have chosen Florida Poly as your home for the next four years. New Student Orientation is the first step in your transition to becoming a Phoenix. All new students, including freshmen, transfer, and international students are strongly encouraged to attend orientation.

At orientation, you’ll:

  • Meet current and incoming students as well as faculty and staff

    Get Ignited

  • Tour campus
  • Meet with your academic advisor
  • Learn about campus resources
  • Pick up your student ID
  • Sign up for your parking permit
  • Choose a meal plan
  • Establish wireless internet access
  • Gain important information on navigating your academic path






2018 new student orientation sessions will be held on the following dates and times:

First-year students

  • Session I: Friday, June 22–Saturday, June 23
  • Session II: Sunday, July 15–Monday, July 16
  • Session III: Friday, August 3–Saturday, August 4

International students

  • Wednesday, August 15

Transfer students

  • Thursday, August 16


The student registration fee includes one-night accommodations in a residence hall as well as all meals during the event. The fee is nonrefundable.

The parent/family includes lunch on day one, orientation materials, and all related programming. It does not include lodging.  Parents and family members are responsible for making their own lodging and meals. The fee is nonrefundable.

Before You Arrive

Please make sure you have completed the following information before you arrive for orientation.

  • Work with your admissions counselor to complete your Florida Residency and Enrollment Verification.
  • Complete your Student Immunization History Form.
  • If applicable, send official transcripts from all high schools and colleges previously attended to Florida Poly, Office of Admissions, 4700 Research Way, Lakeland, FL, 33805-8531.
  • Have the appropriate testing services send AP/IB/AICE test scores to Florida Poly, Office of Admissions, 4700 Research Way, Lakeland, FL, 33805-8531.
    • The university’s federal code is 042634.
    • The university’s SAT codes is 7303.
    • The university’s ACT code is 2869.
  • Housing application (not required for orientation)
  • Submit a selfie for your student ID
  • Active your Florida Poly Pulse account (using the link provided in the “Welcome to Florida Poly” email you received)
  • Make sure you know your social security number
  • Make sure you know your university email address and password.

What to Bring

When you come to orientation, you’ll stay in the Phase 2 Residence Hall and you’ll need to bring a few things to make your experience successful.

  • Comfortable clothing and shoes – Bring comfortable, cool clothes (orientation is casual), as well as a sweater or sweatshirt for air-conditioned meeting rooms.
  • Umbrella – Be prepared for summer rain showers.
  • Sunscreen – It gets pretty hot.
  • Sorry, no pets – No pets, with exception to service animals, are allowed in campus facilities.
  • Linens, including a pillow and twin XL sheets.
  • Toiletries, including a bath towel.


Directions and Parking

Florida Poly is conveniently located right off Interstate 4, and easily accessible from Lakeland. (If you’re coming to Florida Poly by way of the Polk Parkway, you will have pass through an unstaffed toll booth that requires a SunPass.)

Parking for orientation is in Lot 3. You will receive a parking permit to place in your vehicle during your stay. If you’re being dropped off, you’ll want to be dropped off in the same lot, in front of the Phase 2 Residence Hall.

Information for Parents/Families

Parents and family members may not stay in the residence hall with students during orientation; however, there are several hotels nearby.
