Term: May 2, 2019 – May 2, 2022
Dr. Ala' J. Alnaser received his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from Kansas State University. With a background in applied mathematics and doctoral dissertation in Algebraic Number Theory, Dr. Alnaser brings a new perspective and over ten years of experience in academia to his position as Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Florida Polytechnic University.
Previously, Dr. Alnaser served as an assistant professor of mathematics at Trine University in Angola, Indiana, from January 2010 to May 2015, where his duties mainly involved teaching and service. His teaching places a large emphasis on critical thinking and engagement and utilizes several instructional technologies that included MATLAB, web-based assessment tools (such as WebAssign and MyMathLab), as well as Learning Management Systems (such as Canvas and Moodle).
In his doctoral dissertation, Dr. Alnaser developed new methods for finding upper bounds for Waring's number over the rational integers. Since then, his research has evolved to combine elements from applied matrix theory, mathematical modeling and deep learning and analytical methods.
