Editorial Style Guide

Between what we say and how we say it, we create a recognizable style that is distinctly Florida Poly’s. That’s our voice. Our goal is simple: develop focused communications that make our distinct brand personality shine through.

Florida Poly uses the Associated Press (AP) Style Guide for all digital and print materials, including all websites. Our goal is to present a consistent and high standard of writing that appropriately reflects Florida Poly’s standard of excellence.

This online guide provides some of the most common style tips as well as Florida Poly specific information such as official names of departments and buildings, abbreviations, and capitalizations.

If you have questions, please refer to the AP Style Guide or marketing@floridapoly.edu.

What's the Difference?

Messaging, personality and voice all make up different parts of the Florida Poly brand puzzle.

Our Messaging

Messaging is the content and information we communicate. Our messaging map helps us determine what to say.

Our Personality

Our brand has a distinct, multifaceted personality, and it should be evident in our writing. So when you talk, type, or put pen to paper, keep our personality traits in mind.

Our Voice

Our voice is the tone we use when speaking or writing. It makes our content more approachable— and recognizable—by giving our message personality.
