About

John Fico joined Florida Poly in 2016. He is currently a visiting assistant professor in business analytics and supply chain management. Fico transitioned to teaching as a second career as part of “giving back” after a 35-year career in industry. This includes 20 years of progressive experience in power electronics manufacturing engineering, new product development, and continuous improvement program management at Rockwell Automation (Milwaukee, WI). Prior to Rockwell Automation, Fico was an industrial/manufacturing engineer in power electronics, and AC/DC electric motors with Square D Company, Leeson Electric Corporation, and Graham Company (all in Wisconsin).

 

Expertise

  • Certified as Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Master Black Belt, and as Project Management Professional (PMP®)
  • Power electronics product cost reduction using LSS and program management methodologies, leveraging global cross-functional teams
  • Problem solving and decision analysis using LSS tools and optimization modeling
  • New product manufacturing – assembly workstation and tooling design to drive productivity, ergonomics, and environmental sustainability
