Marsha Leap joined Florida Polytechnic University in March 2019 as a consultant in human resources. She continues to assist the HR Department with special projects, including search committees, training and professional development, and website revisions, among other projects as needed. Leap has worked around the periphery of human resources for many years and prior to joining Florida Poly, she had her own career and leadership development business, Leap Ahead Professional Development, for 10 years. She started her business in 2008 to assist professional-level employees who were laid off during the economic crisis of 2008.
Prior to starting her business, Leap was a business consultant with Polk Works (now CareerSource Polk) from 2003-2008, and the director of the career center at Florida Southern College from 1988-2003.
Leap began her more than 20-year career in higher education as an admissions counselor for her alma mater and worked in admissions for two other colleges before progressing through the departments of student activities, co-op and placement, and career and academic counseling. She completed her master’s degree in career development and shortly thereafter accepted a position directing the Florida Southern College career center, which brought her to Lakeland, Florida, in 1988.
