Officer Ronald Lee Keel Jr. is a native Floridian who was born in Tallahassee and graduated from Lake Wales High School. He brings a career of public service to his job as police officer with Florida Polytechnic University.
He began his career in emergency services with the Polk County Emergency Medical Service in 1979. He moved to law enforcement in 1987, joining the Lake Wales Police and serving with that department until retirement in 2014. During Officer Keel’s tenure with the Lake Wales Police Department, he worked in the patrol division, street crimes, investigations, and the traffic enforcement unit. He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2012.
Officer Keel has advanced training in traffic homicide investigations and drug recognition. He served as a DUI instructor, and worked in traffic checkpoint management. Officer Keel also holds radar and laser certification.
