Educational Outreach

Educational Outreach facilitates the communication between the K-12 educational community and the University.

Next Generation STEM Leaders

Florida Poly works alongside and empowers the next generation of big thinkers and inventors. As the state’s only university dedicated exclusively to the study of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), we have a deep pool of experts gifted in bringing science to life. Our faculty and staff are leaders in their fields who can transform the language of physics and robotics into fascinating, real-world application students of all ages can comprehend.

Creating Connections

Educational Outreach facilitates the communication between the K-12 educational community and the University. These dedicated professionals partner with the education community on many levels, including bringing STEM lessons and experiments to local schools, nonprofits, and after-school programs.

Some of the ways educational outreach can partner with you are:

  • Visit Florida Poly’s campus in Lakeland, conveniently located in between Orlando and Tampa.
  • Participate in our Outreach to the Future program at Florida Poly where middle and high school students get to tour the Florida Poly campus, talk to faculty, staff, and students about the Florida Poly experience and take part in a hands-on STEM activity.
  • We lend our expertise and experiences to judge at science and engineering fair or related events.

Employment: Students who want to advance their leadership, presentation, and organization skills will find working with Educational Outreach to be a rewarding and resume-enhancing experience. Students must be in good-standing, on-track toward their degree, and meet other minimum requirements. Apply through Human Resources for Educational Outreach Student Educational Assistant (SEA).

Clubs and Organizations: Student organizations that focus on or include a community and STEM education outreach component or mission collaborate with Educational Outreach to ensure successful delivery of programs, presentations, and proper connections. The Office assists and mentors organizations on liaising with community organizations, developing and delivering content, tracking, and follow-up. Contact the associate director of educational outreach via email.

If you are a faculty or staff member with K-12, STEM-education, and/or outreach experience and want to get involved, or if you don’t have experience in this area but are interested in connecting with Florida students and participating in outreach programs, contact the associate director of educational outreach via email. Faculty must clear their involvement with their department chair and/or division director first. Education Outreach opportunities are also posted in the Weekly Phoenix.

Opportunities for involvement include:

  1. Science and Engineering Fair – judges
  2. Great American Teach-In Guest Speaker
  3. Guest speaker at on-campus Outreach STEM events
