Shoaib Shaikh

Associate Professor

Dr. Shoaib Shaikh brings substantial experience in private industry to his position as Associate Professor of Science & Technology Management at Florida Poly. Prior to joining the University, he served as the lead quantitative analyst and developer at Hyperion Capital Partners LLC in Winter Park, Florida. He was responsible for the development, testing, and implementation of algorithmic-based automated trading solutions, which required a top-down knowledge of the algorithmic trading process and infrastructure.

Before that, he worked at Lockheed Martin Corporation for over five years as a senior system engineer. At Lockheed, he received the President’s Certificate for his effort supporting Flight Test 1 on the Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) program. He also performed algorithm engineering on the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Electro Optics Targeting System. It involved complex mathematical modeling and simulation techniques.

While at Harris Corporation, Dr. Shaikh served as a field engineer on the Field Data Collection Automation (FDCA) program and as a systems engineer, working on the design integration and testing of satellite communication systems. Prior to this, Dr. Shaikh was a system engineer and financial analyst at Northrop Grumman Corporation, working on the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) program.

He holds a doctorate in operations research from Florida Institute of Technology, where he also received his master’s degree in system engineering. He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Webster University, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Florida Institute of Technology.

His programming and software experience includes MATLAB, SPSS, Python, Simulink, DOORS, Satellite Tool Kit and VISIO, among others.

Dr. Shaikh is fluent in several languages, including English, Hindi, Urdu and Arabic.
