New liberal studies certificate to boost student success

Dr. Wylie Lenz, chair of the department of arts, humanities, and social sciences at Florida Polytechnic University, said he is excited the University is offering students a new applied liberal studies certificate. The certificate will provide students with a stronger base in communications, critical thinking, and other “soft skills” desired by employers.

Florida Polytechnic University is launching a new applied liberal studies certificate to augment its 100% STEM-focused degree programs and provide students with a means to gain the “soft skills” employers are after. Soft skills are defined as a combination of people skills, social and communication skills, as well as social and emotional intelligence, among others.

Students find their place at Club Row

Students connected with nearly 40 clubs and organizations this week during Club Row, an annual event showcasing opportunities for students to get involved at Florida Polytechnic University.
