Supplier Diversity Program

We strive to provide information and access to all small and disadvantaged business enterprises to help support the participation of minority, women and service-disabled veteran owned small businesses through University in-reach, community outreach, education and training.

The University embraces the idea of a diverse supplier base and its positive impact on the local business community and public at large.

The Procurement Department helps to ensure that we continue to seek new supplier sources to fulfill University requirements and that minority, women and service-disabled veteran owned small business enterprises are given the appropriate information and support to compete for purchasing and contracting opportunities.

To have University expenditures through the procurement and contracting process that reflect the diversity of our students, faculty, staff, and community.

Mission

To be responsive and proactive in sharing both information and business opportunities that enhance participation of small businesses, including minority, women and service-disabled veteran owned, with the Florida Polytechnic University.

Objectives

  1. Identify and utilize, when fiscally sound, minority, women and service-disabled veteran owned business enterprises that provide goods and/or services that are purchased by the Florida Polytechnic University.
  2. Encourage certification of minority, women and service-disabled veteran owned business enterprises.
  3. Promote the utilization of minority, women and service-disabled veteran owned business enterprises across university departments, academic units and prime contractors.
  4. Validate that vendors are being categorized correctly in our ERP system and report transactional values related to diversity total spend accurately.
  5. Provide educational opportunities that communicate the University purchasing process and requirements to minority, women and service-disabled veteran owned business enterprises.

Minority Business Enterprise Training

The Department of Procurement host a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Supplier Workshop biannually and upon request. This workshop is intended  to assist suppliers with the process of becoming a certified MBE Supplier  as well as, give new and seasoned MBE suppliers a better understanding of the University's procurement practices.
 
During the session, suppliers will learn about:

  • Florida Poly's commitment to minority owned businesses
  • How to certify your business as an a Minority Business Enterprise
  • Registering with the State of Florida
  • Doing business with Florida Poly
  • Supplier application process
  • Upcoming bid opportunities
