Altavise Henry brings diverse industry experience in teaching and leadership to her post as an Admissions Counselor at Florida Poly. She has a master’s degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from Springfield College in Tampa. She has a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Florida State University. She also participated in the FSU study abroad program, working in rehabilitation counseling in the Great Britain Education Department. Most recently, she was an adjunct professor for Argosy University Online, training and counseling students in the area of leadership in the workforce. Prior to that, she worked for seven years as a human resources director for training and development at the Shalom Center for Peace and Restoration in Lakeland. She also has been a career manager for the Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance in Tampa, and an educational counselor and life skills coach at a homeless shelter in London, England. At FSU, she served for a year as an assistant to the Assistant Dean of Education.
At Florida Poly, she will travel to meet, interview and recruit students as well as meet guidance counselors. Her coverage area are states outside of Florida, with Henry attending many of the national college fairs to introduce Florida Poly to high school students seeking a STEM education.
