Tonya Chestnut

Director, Student Development

Tonya Chestnut brings ample experience in higher education work to her role as Director of Student Development at Florida Polytechnic University. She has worked as director of undergraduate admissions at St. Leo University, and admissions director at Fortis College and Keiser University. Other roles include senior enrollment counselor, recruiting and interviewing students. “Over the last 10 years I have dedicated every effort to the growth and success of these institutions through strategically planning and driving initiatives which create balance between the student focus and gainful operations,” she explained.

She has a distinct set of skills that include managing traditional, non-traditional and military students, policy and process development, student retention and escalations, to name a few. She also has experience serving students online and in a traditional bricks-and-mortar setting. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Keiser University in Lakeland. She also attended a one-year program on leadership and management at Saint Leo University. In her spare time, she enjoys working out at the gym, spending time with family, reading and the enjoying the Florida sunshine.
