Guidance Counselor STEM Professional Development Day

Few careers are as fulfilling as that of an educator or school counselor. Individuals in those roles are tasked with helping and guiding a students’ educational and vocational direction while maintaining working knowledge of many career paths and opportunities.

Through the Guidance Counselor STEM Professional Development Day, Florida Polytechnic University strives to provide relevance for our every-changing, technological society. This event offers counselors relevant resources, ideas, and methodologies for advising students for the STEM fields.

Topics covered during the event center around student development and education. Counselors will experience an exploration of STEM careers and knowledge to guide and mentor students. Additionally, counselors will learn of relevant resources that will prepare them to guide students along the path to STEM including what skills students need to be successful in a STEM career.

STEM careers impact technology, medicine, sustainability, social welfare, and much more. Through this professional development opportunity, counselors will be prepared to speak openly and comfortably with students interested in entering a STEM discipline.
