ADA/504 Compliance
Florida Polytechnic University is committed to equal access for individuals with disabilities. Florida Poly works towards removing barriers and avoids creating barriers in its services, programs, activities, deliverables, or facilities.
The university complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), as amended by the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and other applicable federal and state regulations that prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability.
The Rehabilitation Act and the ADA require that no qualified person shall, solely by reason of disability, be denied access to, participation in, or the benefits of, any program or activity operated by the university.
Under Section 504 and the ADA, the term “disability” means, with respect to an individual, (A) a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of such individual; (B) a record of such an impairment; or (C) being regarded as having such an impairment. Major life activities include, but are not limited to, caring for oneself, performing manual tasks, seeing, hearing, eating, sleeping, walking, standing, lifting, bending, speaking, breathing, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, communicating, and working. A major life activity also includes the operation of a major bodily function.

Reporting a Barrier
Florida Poly encourages all students, faculty, staff, and visitors to report any barrier that prevents access to any facility, activity, program, or electronic information. Florida Poly regularly evaluates campus facilities and online resources to identify and address potential barriers.
Some examples of an accessibility issue could be—either physical (e.g., blocked pathways, elevator outages) or digital (e.g., inaccessible PDFs or webpages).
Submit the Accessibility Barrier Online Reporting Form or email us at ada@floridapoly.edu.
NOTE: Submitted this Barrier Reporting Form is not a request for a reasonable accommodation or formal complaint.
If you need assistance reporting your concern, please contact the ADA Office at 863-874-8484.

Emergency Preparedness
If you feel that you would need assistance during an emergency, please reach out. This process was developed to officially notify the University and register the individual; this will help the University prepare and assist the individual in case of an emergency. This process is voluntary for any individual (faculty, staff, and students). This is for anyone with a permanent or temporary disability and needing assistance. There is no timeline for anyone who wants to voluntarily register. Our goal is to protect our campus community and make sure every individual is prepared in case of an emergency.
