Dr. Muhammad R. Abid is Associate Professor of Computer Science at Florida Polytechnic University since 2016. Prior he was working as a research assistant at the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada. His fifteen years of experience in academia, research, industry and consultancy prepare him to be an effective instructor and researcher in the computer science department. His doctoral dissertation was conducted in consultation with Distinguished Prof. Emil M. Petriu and did recognition of the dynamic arm gesture language for human-robot and inter-robot communication. In addition to his doctoral dissertation research, other areas that interest him for his future interdisciplinary research stem from his Master dissertation. He embedded knowledge of software engineering in his doctoral dissertation. One of the studies that he has started is the UML profile for goal orientated modeling. He also did research for health care with the help of McGill University for elder care, deaf people and smart home environments. He has another master degree in computer science from College of Business Administration, Lahore, Pakistan. He did his bachelor of computer science from the University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. He has prior experience of working as System Analyst, Senior Programmer, and Programmer. He received scholarships throughout his career.
