Dr. Tom Dvorske brings extensive experience in higher education to his role as the
vice provost of
academic affairs. Dvorkske works to ensure strategic alignment between program objectives and institutional
priorities, in support of the institution’s mission and vision. His philosophy is
to take a systemic view of the institution as a foundational principle of sound institutional
effectiveness.
Previously, he served as assistant vice president for academic affairs, institutional
research, and effectiveness at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
At McNeese, he led the university’s regional accreditation process, supervised institutional
research and provided key academic support services, as well as worked with professional
accreditation across disciplines, including engineering, computer science, and health
care.
Prior to that, he was the director of institutional effectiveness and academic support
at McNeese from 2008-13. He also served as liaison to the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and was the quality enhancement plan administrator.
From 2007-08, he was an assistant professor and writing program director in the Department
of Languages and Literature at Eastern New Mexico University. He also was an assistant
professor in the Department of English and Philosophy at University of West Georgia.
Dvorske has a doctorate in English from Oklahoma State University. He earned his master’s
degree in English from Emporia State University, Kansas, where he also received his
undergraduate degree in English.
Dvorske enjoys reading, running, being on or near water, watching birds and – most
of all – spending time with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs.
