IEEE-HKN Mu Omega

Florida Poly’s first academic honor society, recognizing students who excel academically and among their peers.

logoMu-Omega is Florida Poly’s IEEE-HKN chapter. Our mission is to prepare our students for the future by promoting academic excellence, providing them with a network platform, enriching their character and attribute, and giving them opportunities to help the university and community.

“HKN is a huge global professional organization and the students who get inducted are exposed to a very good academic and industrial expedience that will help develop their leadership and networking skills,” said Ashiq Sakib, assistant professor of computer and electrical engineering at Florida Poly and the chapter’s faculty advisor.

Jaimie is a senior Electrical Engineering student researching the effects of cybersecurity on the deregulated power market. He founded the IEEE-HKN and SPIE chapters on campus and enjoys spearheading opportunities that his peers can proudly display in their resumes and portfolios.

Riley is a Computer Science senior at Florida Polytechnic University. He is a research assistant and an active member of the drumline, upcoming scatter band, and gym. He looks forward to accomplishing amazing things while being a leader of the first honor society at Florida Poly.

She’s also a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador, vice-president of Programming Club, Assistant Director for PhoenixHacks, and the SOC chair. Juan Forero
Juan is a senior Computer Engineer major at Florida Polytechnic University. He served in the Student Government Association as the elected On-Campus Representative and Audit and Budget Committee Chairman. He founded One Poly Against Cancer and served as President for two years. Juan also currently serves as the Vice-President of the Latin American Student Association. On a more personal note, Juan enjoys photography, playing drums, and listening to music.

Dr. Ashiq Sakib

Faculty Advisor

Dr. Ashiq Sakib is an Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Florida Polytechnic University.  He has co-authored one Book Chapter, multiple peer-reviewed technical articles, and served as a technical reviewer for various journals and IEEE International conference articles. He is a member of IEEE, IEEE-HKN, IEEE-CASS, ACM, and PKP.
