Thanksgiving holiday campus services and closures

As the long-awaited holiday weekend draws near, Florida Polytechnic University wishes the entire University community a happy Thanksgiving. Those staying on campus and those leaving to spend the holiday with friends and family should be mindful of the following changes to campus services and closures during the break.

There will be no classes Wednesday, Nov. 23 through Friday, Nov. 25. Classes resume Monday, Nov. 28.

The information below outlines Florida Poly closures and services available through the Thanksgiving holiday. 

Phoenix Dining
  • Wednesday, Nov. 23: Open for breakfast and lunch. Closed for dinner.
  • Thursday, Nov. 24 – Saturday, Nov. 26: Closed
  • Sunday, Nov. 27: Open for dinner only.
  • Monday, Nov. 28: Regular hours resume
Student Development Center
  • Wednesday, Nov. 23: Open 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, Nov. 24 – Saturday, Nov. 26: Closed
  • Sunday, Nov. 27: Open noon – 5 p.m.
Police Services
  • Available 24/7 at 863-874-8427, option 2. If you experience an emergency, please call 911.
CARE Services and Resources
  • Thursday, Nov. 24 – Sunday, Nov. 27: Closed
  • Monday, Nov. 28: Opens at 8 a.m. 
  • To leave a message for CARE Services call 863-874-8599. 

If you are staying on campus during the Thanksgiving break and need assistance regarding emotional, physical, or mental health concerns, please utilize the following resources:

Residential Students

Office of Residential Life and Residential Life front desk

  • Thursday, Nov. 24 – Sunday, Nov. 27: Closed
  • Monday, Nov. 28: Opens at 8 a.m.
  • If you need assistance during the break, please call the Resident Assistant (RA) on-call for your respective building (Phase 1: 863-398-9348 / Phase 2: 863-209-5989). 

Student Living (Leasing) Office

  • Thursday, Nov. 24 – Sunday, Nov. 27: Closed
  • Monday, Nov. 28: Opens at 10 a.m.

For questions or concerns regarding renewals, leasing, or maintenance please email the Student Living (Leasing) Office or call 863-874-8779. 

Mail and Packages
  • Thursday, Nov. 24 – Sunday, Nov. 27: Mail and packages will not be collected or processed, and they will be unavailable for pick-up. 
  • Monday, Nov. 28: Students may pick up mail and packages from the Residential Life front desk, located in residence hall Phase 2.
Information for Students Leaving Campus

If you are leaving campus for the Thanksgiving break, make sure to leave your unit and bedroom secure and clean. Before you leave, make sure to follow these tips and reminders:

  • Empty all trash into the appropriate trash rooms. 
  • Secure all valuables out of sight and/or take them with you for the break.
  • Close and lock windows and close your blinds.
  • Turn off your bedroom and common area lights. 
  • Lock your door and make sure all doors are shut completely.
  • Students are encouraged to bring any bikes you may have outside into your unit or bedroom for safety reasons. Make sure to pack your cell phone, computer chargers, medication, and any flight/passport or travel information you will need.
  • If you are leaving your vehicle on campus, please make sure it is locked.
