Alexandra Juarbe, a rising senior majoring in business analytics at Florida Polytechnic University, is completing a summer internship at Motorola Solutions in Plantation and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

A summer internship with Motorola Solutions is opening Alexandra Juarbe eyes to the world of possibilities available to her as a rising senior majoring in business analytics at Florida Polytechnic University.

“The speed at which everyone and everything moves, as well as their ability to keep calm in any situation, has been surprising,” she said. “The number of opportunities I’ve had to network, not only with fellow interns, but also with other Motorola workers – or ‘Motorolans’ as they call themselves – has also been unexpected.”

In her internship, Juarbe is working with the company’s Latin American team in data analytics and project management.

“Being able to work with people from different countries like Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, and Mexico, and seeing everyone’s willingness to both help me and learn from me has been a great experience,” she said.

Juarbe is working at the company’s Plantation and Fort Lauderdale, Florida locations.

“I’ve helped them create separate webpages for their teams to use as a landing hub in a sense – basically where they will find all their resources and reports, and connect with other members of their team,” she said.

The student from Pembroke Pines, Florida, said she is also working on two projects using Google App Scripts to create and manage forms that managers submit to request and track incoming project requests.

“Using the app script, I create databases and repositories that, once I finish my time as an intern, the team can still use and manage easily,” she said.

Juarbe said she was well prepared with the skills and knowledge needed to hit the ground running in her professional internship with Motorola Solutions.

“My classes at Florida Poly have set me up well,” she said. “Almost everything I’ve used in classes like entrepreneurial opportunity analysis, engineering and technology project management, and international and comparative dimensions of business has been used and even expanded upon in this internship.”

The harmonious relationship between Juarbe’s studies and her position has her thinking about the future.

“I think that staying with this team and this company would be a great choice,” she said. “I’ve been enjoying the work I’ve been doing.”
