LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Polytechnic University is set to hold its signature philanthropic event of the year, PIVOT, aimed at raising money to fund scholarships and strategic University priorities. It will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Saddle Creek Logistics Commons in the Innovation, Science, and Technology Building, located at 4700 Research Way, in Lakeland, Florida.

The annual event has raised more than $5.4 million to support students through scholarships and the unique project-based learning opportunities that they benefit from at Florida Poly.

The evening will include music, food stations, and live entertainment to celebrate companies and individuals who have made an impact on the University through their contributions and continuing support. For the first time in the history of PIVOT, guests will have the opportunity to give during the evening.

“We are extremely grateful for the support of so many who place a high priority on our vision to produce well-rounded graduates who are lifetime employable and who will be the high-tech leaders of the future,” said Dr. Randy K. Avent, president of Florida Poly.

By 2022, jobs in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields will expand faster than non-STEM jobs in the United States, growing to more than nine million, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.Florida Poly is well-positioned to address this increasing nationwide demand for high-tech professionals and, at the same time, become a burgeoning engine for Florida’s economy. That’s why support from partners is critical to the University’s success, according to Avent.

“We know the dream is bigger than just one night. It takes generations to see it fulfilled,” said Avent. “But it takes special nights like this to fuel the dream.”
