Researchers from as far away as Australia and China were represented this weekend as Florida Polytechnic University hosted its first international conferences.
The 2017 International Conference on Computing and Data Analysis and International Conference on Computing and Data Analysis brought together over 40 researchers representing a dozen countries to share their research on topics including data analysis, machine learning and database systems.
The conferences were chaired by Dr. Houssain Kettani, professor of Computer Science, who rated the event a great success. Attracting top researchers to a new university takes a vote of confidence, he explains. This event validated their trust and will prove a great marketing opportunity across the world as researchers head back home, he says.
“It gives another dimension to the university,” Kettani says. “We’re not just a teaching institute, but also an active research community and this shows what we’re capable of doing.”
