President Randy K. Avent shares his vision for the future of Florida Poly via local radio show.

During an interview with this month’s host of “Listen Lakeland,” Florida Polytechnic University President Dr. Randy K. Avent had the opportunity to talk with Lakeland Vision Board Member David Robinson about his career before Florida Poly, the university’s successes during the last four years and the future of the university.

In addition to an increasingly rigorous curriculum and the development of several new undergraduate degree programs, Avent shared information about his vision for Florida Poly 2.0 and the possibility of a new research park, with a town center, restaurant and shopping area, and housing on the land just west of the campus.

Avent also talked about how the university is helping Florida build a high-tech economy by working with small and medium businesses in the state, among other topics.

“Listen Lakeland” is a monthly radio program created to keep listeners connected to people, places and events in the area, while highlighting positive stories within the community. The show is the result of a partnership between Hall Communications, Lakeland Vision and the City of Lakeland.
