Florida Polytechnic University receives national award for procurement excellence

Aug 09, 2018

Florida Polytechnic University has been awarded the prestigious 23rd Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) for 2018 from the National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI).

The annual award recognizes innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership in the procurement function of public and non-profit organizations. Organizations are selected based upon an arduous review and examination against best practices and standardized criteria.

For 2018, Florida Poly was one of 27 institutions of higher education in the United States and Canada to receive this award.

“This is a very impressive accomplishment for Florida Poly,” said David O’Brien, the university’s director of procurement. “To be able to be nationally recognized and have best in class practices in place as such a young institution is remarkable. It is my goal to continue earning it every year.”

To earn the award annually, the AEP program encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement.

“We are proud of our procurement team’s achievement considering the relative newness of the university and the small size of the department. They are few in number but mighty in their accomplishments,” said university President Randy K. Avent.
