Hurricane Idalia

Hurricane Idalia

We hope you are all staying safe following the impact of Hurricane Idalia. As the storm leaves the state, we want to remind our University community that all classes and operations will remain remote for the rest of Wednesday, Aug. 30. We will return to in-person classes and resume all normal operations on Thursday, Aug. 31.

As we prepare to reopen campus tomorrow, we want to emphasize that safety is always our number-one priority. We encourage students who face unsafe travel conditions, or who may be assisting family members affected by the hurricane, to email success@floridapoly.edu for help with any potentially missed classes or academic work. Employees under the same circumstances should talk with their supervisor or email HR@floridapoly.edu.

Based on the most recent model showing intensification of Hurricane Idalia, Florida Poly will shift to online classes and remote operations from 5 p.m. tonight through Wednesday, Aug. 30. At this time, we anticipate returning to normal, in-person classes and operations on Thursday morning.

Students, check your Canvas page for information about how to log into your classes and contact the Academic Success Center if you have any questions.  Employees who have questions should contact their supervisor.

Additional updates may be provided as more information becomes available.

Please remember that storm paths are never certain, and your safety remains a top priority. Continue monitoring floridapoly.edu, your Florida Poly email, and University social media channels for important updates throughout this weather event.

If you have not already done so, please sign up for Florida Poly Alerts, which is our primary channel for emergency communication.
