As Tropical Depression Four approaches the state, Florida Poly’s Emergency Management Team continues to monitor potential impacts to our area. According to the latest information, we may expect strong winds and rain throughout the day tomorrow, Sunday, Aug. 4.
At this time, all classes, services and operations will remain as scheduled.
However, we know things can change quickly and the safety of our University community is always our top priority.
If there are any significant updates regarding changes to classes or normal operations, we will share them via Florida Poly email, our website, floridapoly.edu, and our social media channels. Updates also will be sent via our primary emergency communication channel, Florida Poly Alerts.
Our Emergency Management Team is closely monitoring the path of a tropical wave that is moving toward Florida from the northern Caribbean. It is not yet known whether the wave, called Invest 97L, will develop into a tropical depression or storm, but the National Hurricane Center expects the state will see increased rainfall this weekend.
Our team will continue to meet throughout this weather event. At this time, there are no changes to class schedules and the University will continue its regular operations. However, the safety of our University community is our absolute priority and things may change quickly. Please be sure to pay close attention to your email for any updates, as well as our website and our social media channels.
If you have not already done so, please sign up for Florida Poly Alerts, which is our primary channel for emergency communication. The Florida Poly email is used to follow up to the emergency alerts.
It’s also a good idea to double-check your hurricane preparedness plan. The National Weather Service has a resource page that provides tips on how to plan and be safe during a significant storm.
