A look back at Purple Fire Week
Students took part in Silent Disco, Aug. 28, 2018, as part of Florida Polytechnic University Purple Fire Week.

Florida Polytechnic University students celebrated the first full week of classes with Purple Fire Week from Aug. 25 -30. The annual five-day spirit-themed event included a number of activities aimed at bringing together new and returning students as they immerse themselves in college life.

The event began Saturday, Aug. 25, with an “all-nighter” featuring live music, food, and refreshments to go along with a host of activities in the Innovation Science and Technology (IST) and at the Rec Field. There were a number of Florida Poly Pride giveaways during Monday’s Spirit Day. At an ice cream social that evening, students enjoyed ice cream bars.

On Tuesday, students came together at the Wellness Center to tie-dye socks and t-shirts and then spent the evening jamming at a silent disco in the IST Commons.

Wednesday morning students were treated to donuts and coffee and spent the afternoon getting to know each other through a series of team building events at Playfair.

Students were greeted with a complimentary pick-me-up Wednesday morning with free donuts and coffee at the IST building. The festivities concluded Thursday with Rec Day, an event during which students had the opportunity to get involved in a number of recreational activities like basketball, bubble ball, and frisbee.
