The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our top priority. Visit our webpage for resources and additional information.

Dear Students,

I hope everyone is staying well and adjusting to your new remote environments. Working and learning remotely is a big adjustment that we’ve all had to make.  I’m pleased to hear about and see many situations where our students are doing what Phoenixes do best—rising together.

We want all of our students and their families to remain safe and healthy.  Please continue to follow  the recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and your state and local leaders. This includes practicing good hand hygiene, social distancing, and wearing cloth face masks when you do have to go out in public. Here are some good tutorials on how to make your own mask if you haven’t already done so.

We have many resources in place to assist you in your new environment, while I realize you may have already received these links from your faculty and campus staff, I want include them again and encourage you to reach out for support.  We’re here to help.

  • Registrar: The Registrar’s Office remains open and available to help you remotely with your needs during this time, including registration, scheduling, and more.
  • Mental health: Counseling services are available to help with challenges you may be experiencing. Call 863-874-8599 or email care@floridapoly.edu to make an appointment. You also can try TAO Connect (enrollment key: FloridaPoly123!).
  • Distance learning: Those experiencing challenges with their remote education can get help by filling out this student support request.
  • Phund-a-Phoenix: The SGA has created an emergency student assistance fund to help students who are experiencing unexpected expenses due to emergency situations.

This is an unusual time, but we are all doing our best to continue the spirit of excellence that is our hallmark.

You are not alone in this. I’m proud how we have all come together to make the best of this extraordinary situation. As always, please make sure you’re checking Canvas, your Florida Poly email and our website for all of the latest updates.

Stay healthy,
Randy Avent
