Dr. Louis S. Saco is a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist with The Watson Clinic and served as its CEO and board chairman from 2002-2017. He currently is the Medical Director of Lakeland Surgical and Diagnostic Center.
For more than 15 years, Saco has been voted as “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. Saco earned his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital as well as a Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of North Carolina, School of Medicine. He is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Managed Care Medicine and National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a team physician for the Detroit Tigers Florida Operations and Lakeland Tigers minor league baseball team. Saco obtained his MBA from the University of South Florida, School of Business.
Saco’s professional memberships include Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society; Fellow of the American College of Physicians; Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology; Fellow of the American Gastroenterology Association; American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy; American College of Physician Executives; American College of Sports Medicine; Former Council Member/Florida Society of Internal Medicine; Florida Gastroenterology Society; Florida Medical Association; Polk County Medical Association, and Beta Gama Sigma International Honor Society for Collegiate Schools of Business.
Saco’s former board memberships include Watson Clinic LLP Governing Board (chair); Watson Clinic Foundation (chair); Watson Clinic Center for Research; Lakeland Regional Medical Center Medical Services (HSSI); Lakeland Chamber of Commerce; and the University of South Florida.
In addition to serving on Florida Polytechnic University’s Board of Trustees, Saco currently serves on the board of Florida Southern College; Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE); and the Learning Resource Center. Saco is also a graduate of Leadership Lakeland.
