Meal Plan FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Having a dining facility and meal plans at Florida Poly enhances the quality of campus life and helps to increase student involvement on campus. Living on campus can make a world of difference in what our students gain from their college experience and in their success rates. The benefits of living on campus, including dining services with healthy meals, are especially significant for students who have just graduated from high school and are attending their first year of college. Research tells us that those students who live on campus during their first year:

  • Have higher grade point averages
  • Make a smoother transition from high school to college
  • Have higher retention and graduation rates
  • Report greater satisfaction with their college experience
  • Make better use of the educational and support services at their universities than commuter students

The university is committed to ensuring the academic and personal success of its students. The combination of these factors led to university administration to approve the proposed meal plan requirements.

Meal plans can be selected and paid for via the Florida Poly portal with a credit card. Log into your CAMS portal to sign up for a meal plan before drop/add day each semester.

Certain types of financial aid may be applied to a meal plan. Students are urged to be proactive in working with the Office of Financial Aid to secure aid that can be used for meal plan expenses.
Block meals and swipes per week allow you to have all-you-care-to-eat meals in the Wellness Dining Center. You can also use your swipe to enjoy the Wellness Dining Center To-Go Box Program. Retail items can only be purchased with cash, debit/credit card, Phoenix Funds, or Florida Poly Bucks.
Finding out how many meals you have remaining is easy.
  1. Log in to your StudentLink account with your username and password.
  2. If you do not have a username and password, simply follow the steps as a first-time user to register.
  3. Once you are logged in, the system will show you which meal plan you purchased, how many meals you have used and how many meals are remaining.
Phoenix Funds are declining balance funds with dollar-for-dollar value that you can spend in any Phoenix Dining location during the academic year. If you have remaining Fall semester phoenix funds, your balance will roll over to the Spring semester to stack on top of your new meal plan. As of Fall 2020, all remaining Fall phoenix funds will roll to the Spring semester, and any remaining Phoenix funds at the end of the Spring semester will roll to the following Fall semester. These funds will expire at the conclusion of the Fall semester.
You can deposit funds on your Florida Poly ID Card to use for on campuses purchases. These funds are called Florida Poly Bucks and do not expire. To load funds on your card, visit StudentLink.
Students wishing to upgrade to a larger meal plan can do so in CAMS. It is extremely important that all upgrade requests be completed by 5 p.m. on the last day of drop/add each semester, or they WILL NOT be posted to the student account. After drop/add is over, students may purchase additional blocks of meals via the website (this may be done at any point during the semester).
Selection: Meal plans are only valid for the semester in which they are purchased. Meal plan selection does not carry over, so students must re-register for a new meal plan each semester in their CAMS portal.

Block Meals: If you have left over block meals, they WILL NOT carry over to the next semester.

Phoenix Funds: If you have left over fall Phoenix Funds in December, all remaining Fall phoenix funds will roll to the Spring semester, and any remaining Phoenix funds at the end of the Spring semester will roll to the following Fall semester. These funds will expire at the conclusion of the Fall semester.

You may use your Phoenix Fund declining balance dollars, Florida Poly Bucks, cash, or credit/debit card to purchase a meal for a guest. You cannot use your meal plan swipes per week, as they may only be used for the named cardholder to enter the Wellness Dining Center.
