International Admissions Requirements

How to Apply – Undergraduate and Graduate

  1. Complete the International Admission application. ($30, non-refundable fee)
  2. Complete the I-20 Application form.
  3. Provide a copy of your passport.
  4. Provide proof of available funds to cover the cost of the first year of study (including miscellaneous expenses). For more information, please visit the Estimated Tuition and Fees page.

For the International Admissions Office to process your application, please provide a recent bank statement from a student or sponsor that shows the equivalent amount of $38,192 U.S. for graduate, $39,199 U.S for undergraduate.)

International students that meet Florida Poly international requirements and satisfy the financial statement will receive an I-20 Form from the International Admissions office. Take the I-20 form with a copy of your acceptance letter and proof of financial documents to the closest US. Embassy or consulate.

Currently Florida Poly accepts transcripts evaluated through one of the following services:

World Education Services (WES)
Academic Evaluation Services (AES)
Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, Inc. (ACEI)
Josef Silny & Associates, Inc

Florida Poly International Admissions staff can assist students with pre-arrival information, orientation, and advice on academic, social, cultural and employment matters.

 

Undergraduate Academic Requirements

Average Grade Point Average: 4.43 weighted, including any additional credit from:

  • Advanced Placement (AP)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Advanced International Certificate of Education
  • Honor courses completed in high school

Note: This is not a minimum requirement, but the typical information provided by other incoming students.

First Time Students (Less than 60 credit hours):

  • Average ACT Composite Score: 30
  • Average SAT Score: 1330

Note: Florida Poly combines scores from multiple attempts to make a “super score.”

  • TOEFL Internet-Based Test: 61
  • Computer-Based Test: 173
  • Paper-Based Test: 500.
  • IELTS: 6. MELAB: 77

*Note: Students with an Associate of Arts degree (AA) or higher from a U.S. institution, or an institution whose primary instruction language is English, may waive testing requirements.

High school or transfer students with less than 60 credit hours and without a university-level degree will be required to submit either ACT or SAT scores. This is the transfer code for Poly:

  • SAT (Florida Poly School Code: 7303)
  • ACT (Florida Poly School Code: 2869)

These scores are part of the application. Use the school code to send official and certified copies of your results to Florida Poly.

 

Graduate Application Steps

  1. Complete the Graduate Admissions Application
    Graduate Admissions applications can be completed. The application fee is a non-refundable $30.
  2. Send Your Official College Transcripts
    Please provide transcripts from all undergraduate coursework completed.
  3. Submit Your GRE Scores
    Please request the scores to be sent from ETS to Florida Polytechnic University
  4. Send Your Recommendation Letters*
    Two letters of recommendation are required.
  5. Provide Your Letter of Intent*
    Please create a statement that reflects your interest in the program. Please include information on research interests, and relative current or past experience in the field of interest.

Graduate Academics

Master of Computer Science

Students interested in the MS I&T program should have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited program in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or closely related field with a core computer science focus.

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Students interested in the MSME program should have a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited program in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or a closely related field with a core of engineering focus.
